Why have a Project Manager ?

Most clients mistakenly believe that once an architect and a builder have been selected, their construction project will run smoothly. However this often leads to many problems all of which can be avoided with a project management team in place.

For example, an architect will draw his version of what you want and the builder will just build to the drawings provided. Neither will improve the build, such as placing windows where there's little light or perhaps to improve the view and a builder will always make an effort to cut costs once his tender price has been approved.

Cost cutting can be as simple has putting 12mm steel reinforcement instead of 16mm, using hand mixed cement instead of C-Pac (factory manufactured) and changing the specification of hidden materials or simply omitting them. In addition, many clients can not visit the building site on a regular basis so a project management team is essential to keep track of changes ensuring the clients requirements are followed.
